SEMA Show, Day Three: Ecsta run-flat tops list of new tires from Kumho

Nov. 2, 2006

Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. is displaying a new run-flat tire, the Ecsta SPT XRP, at this week's SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) Show in Las Vegas, Nev. The SPT XRP will be available in five sizes later this month and three more by the middle of 2007.

"We also will create an all-season (run-flat) in the Ecsta ASX," Rick Brennan, Kumho's director of brand management, told moderntiredealer.com.

Kumho also has unveiled a new broad-line tire, the Solus KR21, which will be available during the first quarter of 2007. It will compete against the Goodyear Integrity, Yokohama's Advan Touring and other products, says Brennan.

Also new during the first quarter of next year is the Road Venture APT.

In addition, Kumho is adding sizes to its Ecsta ASX line to cover plus size fitments up to 24 inches in diameter.

On the non-mass market side, Kumho is introducing three sizes for its "aroma tire" and six sizes for its tire that emits colored smoke (red, blue and now yellow). "This isn't for the street," says Brennan. "It's more for competitions like drifting and burn-outs."
