Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC (BFNT) is ready "to enter more intensive negotiations" with the United Steelworkers, says Bridgestone Americas Holding Inc. Chairman and CEO Mark Emkes.
BFNT is having continuing discussions with the union, according to Emkes. The goal "is to achieve a contract that's beneficial for our union teammates and also is good for our business."
However, Emkes cautioned that "we cannot continue to operate plants that lose millions of dollars a year."
Emkes updated BFNT customers about contract talks earlier today at BFNT's dealer meeting in Las Vegas, Nev.
