Sullivan Tire helps students inspect tires

April 7, 2008

Techs from Sullivan Tire Co. Inc. recently helped a dozen student volunteers from Acton (Mass.) Boxboro High School perform visual tire inspections on more than 260 cars at the school.

"When they returned to their cars after school, each student found a tire inspection form on their front windshield, along with a packet of information on tire safety and a free air pressure gauge," say Sullivan Tire officials.

The form listed the correct air pressure level for their car, as well as the current pressure, plus comments about the general condition of the tires.

The event "was conceived after a fatal car crash this past winter involving two local students, one an Action Boxboro student. Balding tires were named a contributing factor in the crash."

Based in Norwell, Mass., Sullivan Tire is one of the 10 largest independent tire store chains in the United States with more than 70 locations, according to Modern Tire Dealer research.
