SmarTire promotes Warkentin to CEO and president

Oct. 24, 2006

The board of directors for SmarTire Systems Inc. has promoted David Warkentin to CEO and president from vice president of sales and marketing.

Prior to joining SmarTire in August 2005, Warkentin was the vice president of sales for Intrinsyc Software International Inc., a Canadian public company that provides engineering services to wireless mobile device makers and licensable software for the wireless telephone handset market.

"Directing our sales and marketing efforts, he has successfully built an impressive portfolio of commercial customers that is now translating into rapid revenue growth," says Chairman Robert Rudman. "Dave has the right vision and skill set to drive SmarTire forward in a decisive manner."

Warkentin replaces Leif Pedersen, who resigned after six months to pursue other business in Europe. Rudman says he chose not to relocate to Vancouver.

In his new role, Warkentin will represent SmarTire at the ValueRich Small-Cap Financial Expo in Las Vegas, Oct. 25-26. He will present a corporate profile that also will be Webcast. For more information, visit http://www.valuerichonline.com/expo/mi06/index.php?id=news.
