Four months after breaking ground on a new tire plant in China, Nexen Tire has set up a branch office in Shanghai.
The plant is slated to produce 60,000 tires a day with 5.7 million square feet under its roof.
"This plant will be the biggest among existing tire plants in China," say Nexen officials. The factory also will export to North America and Europe.
When the plant is up and running, it will free up Nexen's factory in Korea to focus on the manufacture of ultra-high performance tires and other high-end products.
