Dobbs inducted into MTIA Hall of Fame during annual convention

The Missouri Tire Industry Association (MTIA) held its annual convention August 18-19 in St. Louis, Mo.

Tire industry professionals throughout the state and beyond attended this event, the association reports. Activities included a welcome reception, golf tournament, business meeting and awards dinner. Highlights included:

* Bob Malerba, president of the Tire Industry Association, was the featured speaker at the business meeting.

* Dennis Flynn of Purcell Tire Co. began his two-year term as president of MTIA, replacing Bob Kotan of Tire Centers LLC.

* Don Dobbs of Dobbs Tire & Auto Centers in High Ridge, Mo., was inducted into the MTIA Hall of Fame. Past inductees include: Jim Courtney (former MTIA executive director), Gene Beck (Beck Tire International), Chuck Telle (Telle Tire & Auto), Bob Purcell (Purcell Tire Co.), Mike Berra (Community Tire), and Ed Weiss (former MTIA executive director).

* Jon Rich, president of Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s North American Tire unit, attended the event to honor Dobbs’ induction. During the awards dinner, Rich presented Dobbs with a framed Chicago Bulls jersey autographed by Michael Jordan.
