White Tire Distributors Inc., one of the country's largest independent commercial tire dealerships, has been acquired by Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC.
Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed.
White Tire Distributors, which is based in Roanoke, Va., was the 66th largest independent tire dealership in the United States prior to the purchase, according to Modern Tire Dealer's "Top 100 independent domestic tire store chains" list.
It also is the 26th largest retreader in the U.S. with six plants that have a combined daily output of 640 truck tire retreads and 20 light truck tire retreads. White Tire Distributors posted $60.5 million in overall sales in 2005.
