Titan confirms lay-offs at Freeport plant

Aug. 28, 2006

A total of 72 employees at Titan International Inc.'s Freeport, Ill., plant have been laid off.

Twenty-one of the lay-offs were "optional," according to Titan officials, while the rest were classified as "regular."

Titan acquired the plant from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. earlier this year as part of its $100 million acquisition of Goodyear's farm tire division.

The Freeport factory can produce 9,500 farm tires per day at full capacity, according to Modern Tire Dealer research.
