Stamford picks Charlotte for HQ, new warehouse

June 30, 2006

Stamford Tires & Wheels Inc. is relocating its corporate headquarters from Medley, Fla., to Charlotte, N.C., where it will open its second distribution center in the United States.

"We are building a home in the U.S. for our corporate brands of Sumo tires and SSW alloy wheels, and Charlotte will be our new base of operations," says Stamford Tires & Wheels Vice President and COO Jim Seidel.

The 80,000-square-foot warehouse in Charlotte will "effectively service tire and wheel dealers from Miami to New York and most cities east of the Mississippi River with one-day delivery service."

Seidel also says the distribution center also to "effectively service the rest of the country and into Canada."

It gives Stamford more than 100,000 square feet of warehouse space up and down the East Coast.

In related news, Stamford has promoted David Lau to regional sales manager for its Southern Region. Lau was previously responsible for Stamford's tire and wheel sales in Latin America.

Stamford also has hired Rick Reyes to serve as its area sales manager in Central America.
