Pep Boys will continue successful tire promotions

Despite a challenging fourth quarter, Pep Boys - Manny, Moe & Jack continues to classify tires as a "catalyst" for its service operations.

"Our 'Buy 3 Tires, Get the 4th Tire Free' (promotion) has been effective in driving reluctant traffic to our service bays," Jeff Rocker, CEO and president of Pep Boys, said during a conference call held earlier today, March 26.

Pep Boys also is pleased with the success of its "Burning Rubber" sales promotion, currently in place at 42 locations. Rocker said Pep Boys will extend the promotion to 200 additional outlets.

"We can drive double-digit comps with this concept," he explained. "The biggest driver" in Pep Boys' tire sales has been "a greater breadth of tire sizes."
