Goodyear's Wingfoot Express rolls again

June 15, 2006

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.'s vintage truck, the Wingfoot Express, will help open new Wingfoot Commercial Tire Systems LLC locations.

The 1917 Packard Model E truck was most recently used during the 1980s and '90s to promote Goodyear medium truck tires.

The truck originally ran from Goodyear's tire plant in Akron, Ohio, to the company's fabric mill in Connecticut.

Wingfoot operates more than 173 commercial tire centers in North America.

It's the country's largest retreader with 59 plants that produce more than 6,600 truck, 100 OTR and 625 light truck retreads per day, according to Modern Tire Dealer research.
