The Continental brand has been named the official tire sponsor of the 2006 World Cup, which is being held in Germany.
The sponsorship is designed "to increase international brand awareness and create a more emotional brand image by making a connection with fans," according to Continental officials.
The World Cup, which kicked off last week, ends on July 9.
