GM names DENSO 'Corporation of the Year'

June 8, 2006

DENSO Corp. recently received the General Motors Corp. "Corporation of the Year" award. It was the third consecutive year the company has been so honored.

DENSO also received this award in 2000 and 1996.

"This is a monumental honor," says Mitsuo "Matt" Matsushita, CEO and president of DENSO International America, DENSO's North American headquarters. "When DENSO first came to Detroit nearly 40 years ago, the red lights shimmering on top of the GM building scared us. We couldn't imagine that DENSO could ever earn such an award."

"DENSO's commitment to innovation, quality, delivery and cost is greatly appreciated by GM," says Bo Andersson, vice president of GM's global purchasing and supply chain. "It is a pleasure to work with a company that is so dedicated to meeting customer needs and requirements."

DENSO also was one of 85 companies receiving a "Supplier of the Year" award from GM. The award recognized DENSO's heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and navigation systems. DENSO has earned the Supplier of the Year award 12 times.
