The funeral mass for Edouard Michelin will be held on Wednesday, May 31, at 2:30 p.m. (French time) in the cathedral at Clermont-Ferrand, France.
At the same time, Michelin facilities worldwide will observe a moment of silence in his honor. Details regarding a memorial will be announced at a later time.
Michelin, Groupe Michelin's co-managing partner, was killed on Friday, May 26, in a fishing boat accident off the French Brittany coast. (See "Edouard Michelin dies in boating accident," May 26, 2006.)
"What happened on Friday is a trauma for all of us," said Michel Rollier, co-managing partner. "My most profound thoughts are for his wife, his children and for Mr. Francois Michelin, who was so very close to him."
Pursuant to Michelin's governing bylaws, Rollier assumed full responsibilities as the head of Michelin on Saturday, May 27.
"Our strategic orientations are clear. They remain unchanged," he said.
