TIA partners with Indiana/Illinois Tire Dealers for training

May 5, 2006

The Tire Industry Association (TIA) is partnering with the Indiana/Illinois Tire Dealers Association (IITDA) to offer its Automotive Tire Service (ATS) Certified Technician Training course to IITDA members this summer.

The IITDA will be sponsoring 12 ATS Technician Courses in six cities from July 24 to Aug. 5, 2006.

Each city will host two one-day courses on ATS training so dealers can send half of their technicians the first day, and the other half on the second day, say TIA officials.

The dates for each city are as follows: July 24-25 (Indianapolis, Ind.); July 26-27 (South Bend, Ind.); July 28-29 (Chicago, Ill., area); July 31-Aug. 1 (Decatur, Ill.); Aug. 2-3(Mount Vernon, Ill.); and Aug. 4-5 (Evansville, Ind.)

"The ATS Certification course covers all aspects of passenger/light truck tire service including lifting, balancing, mounting/demounting, installation and removal, tire pressure monitoring systems, repair procedures, and industry charts and tables.

"Each student completes a certification exam at the conclusion of the course. Those students who pass will receive a Certified ATS Technician certificate and 13 uniform emblems."

To register for the IITDA courses, contact John Buettner, IITDA executive vice president, at (888) 754-8372 or via e-mail at [email protected].
