The third Intelligent Tire Technology Conference will highlight new tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) technologies, implementation and instrumentation, starting with a series of workshops.
The conference will be held at the Marriott Dearborn Inn in Dearborn, Mich., April 28-30, 2008.
The conference will begin at 8 a.m. on Apr. 28 with a roundtable workshop discussing "TPMS Implementation in the Aftermarket" (see "Third Intelligent Tire Technology Conference will address TPMS issues, starting with a special roundtable," Feb. 1, 2008). Three workshops will follow the roundtable:
1. "All About Standards: Making the System More Compatible," 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This workshop will explore the impact and need for standards in the growing TPMS marketplace. Mark Shaw, senior systems engineer for Freescale Semiconductor, will lead the workshop.
2. "Implementing TPMS in the Field More Effectively by Understanding Key Tools and Procedures," 2:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Field technicians need to understand the key procedures to TPMS implementation, while engineers need to understand the problems from the technician's point of view. This workshop, led by Jean-Luc Sauriol, president of Obd3solutions, will address these challenges.
3. "Conducting TPMS System Evaluation and Qualification to Comply with NHTSA," 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This workshop deals with how you qualify and evaluate existing direct and indirect systems. Fred Starkey, a technical consultant and specialist in tire pressure monitoring, will lead the workshop.
