Intelligent Tire Technology Conference opens with TIA's Rohlwing on TPMS standardization

March 21, 2008

Kevin Rohlwing, senior vice president of training for the Tire Industry Association (TIA), will lead off the day one speeches at the third Intelligent Tire Technology Conference.

His talk on "Understanding Commonality Platform Protocols" will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at the Marriott Dearborn Inn in Dearborn, Mich. Day two of the main conference will be held Wednesday, April 30.

As part of his presentation, Rohlwing will give an overview of the tire service industry, and discuss how tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) standardization is impacting the service industry. He also will share his perspective on the TPMS tooling side.

Six presentations will follow:

* "Obtaining an Update on the TPMS Technologies in China and Discovering How this will Impact the North American Market,"

* "Evaluating Battery-less Systems that Rely on Energy Scavenging and Radiated Energy,"

* "Recognizing Developments in Advanced Indirect Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems,"

* "Evaluating Standards Needed for RF Protocols for Interchangeability,"

* Reviewing RFID Technology Implementation for Intelligent Tires," and

* "Moving from Vision to Reality in 2008 -- RFID in Tires."

Pre-conference workshops and roundtables will be held on Monday, April 28 (see "Third Intelligent Tire Technology Conference will address TPMS issues, starting with a special roundtable," Feb. 1, 2008).
