Federal Tire Corp. achieved record single month shipments last month with 670,000 tires delivered. During the first quarter of 2006, Federal shipped 1.7 million tires. Both are record numbers for the company.
Federal's Jiang Xi, China, plant alone shipped 2.3 million tires during 2005, up from 1.5 million tires in 2004. "We expect (the factory) to deliver close to five million tires this year," say Federal officials.
"Federal expects to see continued strong capacity increases and production output for the next five years, namely coming from planned new machinery in our (Jiang Xi) factory, where there is still a lot of room for growth."
In addition, Federal is increasing capacity at its plant in Taiwan, which is expected to ship 3.5 million units this year.
"Combined shipments from our two locations are projected to be 8.5 million units this year."
