New Plains Tire store offers more than just tires

March 30, 2006

The new Plains Tire store in Evanston, Wyo., contains a wireless Internet cafe, a 52-inch plasma screen TV, a Starbucks coffee station, a customer service concierge and many other amenities.

"The new location showcases the company's 21st century strategy of combining innovation and service," say Plains Tire officials.

"Our entire focus is building lifetime customers."

The Evanston shop employs a number of tire industry veterans, including Store Manager Tim Carn, a former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. Gemini regional manager, and Assistant Manager Steve Cates, a master ASE technician.

The store's ribbon-cutting was held on March 22.

Plains Tire -- which sells Michelin, BFGoodrich, Uniroyal, Goodyear and other brands -- has eight other locations throughout Wyoming. Its CEO is Larry Nicholls, former owner of Wholesale Tire Distributors Inc. (WTD), one of the largest tire distributors in the western U.S.

WTD was acquired by American Tire Distributors last summer.
