Pirelli & Cie SpA has opened a radial truck and bus tire production facility in Brazil, a $50 million investment.
The unit is located inside Pirelli's motorcycle tire manufacturing plant in Gravatai.
Eighty-percent of truck and bus tires produced there will be for the local market and the rest will be exported, mainly within Latin America.
"The opening of the production unit in Gravataì further strengthens Pirelli's presence in the radial truck segment and follows the launch in China in the second half of 2005," say Pirelli officials.
"With these units, Pirelli completes its investment plan in the industrial segment, which can now count on new and more competitive production capacity to satisfy growth for the period (of) 2006 through 2008."
