Potenza means performance, BFNT tells dealers, media

March 23, 2006

Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC (BFNT) introduced dealers and media to four new tires yesterday in Phoenix, Ariz., during a drive-and-learn "Classroom Behind the Wheel" program.

The Potenza RE960AS Pole Position is a performance all-season tire built with the company's UNI-T AQII technology. It offers traction in both wet and dry -- even as the tire wears, the company says. This is possible due to an inner tread that's exposed to maintain grip as the outer tread wears down. The tire will be available in April in 37 sizes ranging from 14 to 20 inches and in 65- to 30-series. The tires are H- and W-speed-rated and are targeted at premium sports vehicles.

The Potenza RE050A Pole Position ultra-high performance tire with UNI-T technology is targeted st premium sports cars and is currently available in 24 sizes ranging from 16 to 20 inches. The W- and Y-rated tires offer optimum street performance due to an asymmetrical, block and slick combination tread pattern that increases surface contact to enhance acceleration and cornering. It comes in 55- to 30-series sizes.

The Potenza RE-01R with UNI-T is geared for domestic and imported sports and tuner cars and has a tread that incorporates a semi-slick shoulder block, wide straight groove, racing slit, wide center rib, cooling slit and silica to offer high speed performance, high temperature durability and high hydro-evacuation properties. It is available in 13 sizes (two V-rated and 11 W-rated), and comes in 16- to 19-inch rim diameters.

The Bridgestone Dueler H/P Sport tire with UNI-T technology is built for high performance premium SUVs and sport trucks like the Porsche Cayenne and Volvo XC90. The tire will be launched in April in seven replacement sizes from 16 to 19 inches, 65- to 45-series, and is V-, W- and Y-rated. It has a non-vent design and an aggressive sidewall look.
