U.S. Auto Care loses Kmart lease, closes

March 20, 2006

U.S. Auto Care LLC, Big O Tires Inc.'s franchise operation in the greater Detroit area, has closed.

U.S. Auto Care officially shut down nine stores on March 9, says Steve Wilson, the company's president.

The dealership lost its lease with Sears Holdings LLC. (Stores were attached to Kmart outlets; Kmart and Sears merged last year.)

"While we have made sizeable improvements in sales and were profitable the past five months, the company did not have the luxury of the time necessary to move," says Wilson.
