Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. and Kenda Rubber Industrial Co. Ltd. are building a joint venture passenger and light truck tire plant in Kunshan, China.
The plant is expected to go on-line during the third quarter of 2006. It will eventually have a capacity of 10 million to 12 million tires.
Products made at the facility will be for export to North America and Europe, according to a Cooper spokesperson.
Cooper and Kenda formed a 50/50 joint venture in late 2003.
