Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC's (BFNT) Wilson, N.C., plant has been accepted into the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's National Environmental Performance Track program.
"All seven of the company’s U.S. tire plants share this recognition for outstanding environmental performance," say BFNT officials.
The program recognizes companies "that show a commitment to environmental performance that goes above and beyond current requirements and that have a proven track record of improving environmental performance over time."
BFNT plans to invest some $250 million in the Wilson plant over the next 10 years.
