The State of North Carolina has recognized Michelin's aircraft plant in Norwood, N.C., for its pollution prevention efforts.
The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources honored Michelin with "the highest level of achievement" in its Environmental Stewardship Initiative, say Michelin officials.
The program, which is voluntary, is designed to stimulate development and implementation of programs for pollution prevention and "innovative approaches to consistently meet and go beyond regulatory requirements."
Michelin's Norwood plant builds tires for military, commercial and other aircraft.
