Uniroyal dealers help give $1.4 million to youth soccer in 2005

Feb. 23, 2006

Uniroyal tire dealers and Michelin North America Inc. gave more than $1.4 million in funds and equipment to support local youth soccer programs nationwide in 2005.

Since the Uniroyal soccer program's inception in 1997, the brand and its dealers have given more than $9 million in soccer equipment and funds.

Michelin, through its Uniroyal brand, is now entering its seventh year as a major sponsor of youth soccer. The program format will be the same as in prior years –- soccer league families will receive a voucher for a free Uniroyal soccer ball to be picked up at the local Uniroyal dealer. In addition, 30-day fundraising promotions will be held by Michelin and participating dealers to benefit local soccer leagues.

"This program is beneficial to everyone involved," says George Aufmuth, Uniroyal tire marketing communications director. "The kids get new soccer balls, and the leagues receive funds to help pay for their operations, scholarships and other expenses.

"For Uniroyal and our dealers, it provides a way for us to give back to the community and meet new local families."

Here are some facts and figures about the 2005 Uniroyal Soccer Program:
