Michelin to invest $26 million in Greenville

Groupe Michelin plans to invest $26 million in its Greenville, S.C., plant through 2008 to increase the factory's capacity by 20%.

The Greenville plant can build 23,000 passenger tires per day at full capacity, according to moderntiredealer.com research.

The investment is part of Michelin's strategy to "muscle up" various plants.

Michelin also has pledged to invest 87 million euros in its Aranda, Spain, plant over the next nine years for a 110% production expansion.

In addition, the tiremaker will add 3.5 milion units to a plant in Poland.
