Kumho targets $505 million in 2006

Jan. 14, 2006

Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. is projecting $505 million in sales this year. Last year, it achieved $407 million.

Though last year´s total was a 15% increase over previous year results, it still fell more than $60 million short of Kumho´s original goal due to logistics problems, Dave Hudrlik, Kumho's vice president of sales, said earlier today at the company´s dealer meeting in Nuevo Vallerta, Mexico.

"During the first six or seven months (of 2005), fill rates were dismal due to bottlenecks" at the company´s Fontana, Calif., warehouse, which funnels shipments from Asia to the rest of the United States.

Hudrlik says fill rates will improve this year now that Kumho is using a larger distribution center in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.

Kumho also has announced plans to expand its Atlanta, Ga., warehouse from 120,000 square feet to 400,000 square feet during the third quarter of 2006.
