Bauer (a different one) will run Bauer Built

Dec. 27, 2012

There will be a new president of Bauer Built Inc. on New Year's Day: Tad Bauer.

Jerry Bauer will relinquish the title of president effective Jan. 1, 2013. He will remain the Durand, Wis.-based company's chairman and CEO.

The promotion comes 22 years after the younger Bauer (pictured) joined the company. He started with Bauer Built performing janitorial services and other miscellaneous jobs in the Durand retread shop. Before becoming a full-time employee, he worked in the retread shop, warehouse, office, and Bauer Built Tire Centers in various capacities.

After graduating in 1998 from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, Tad became an assistant store manager in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He subsequently became store manager in Cedar Rapids.

In 2000, he  was promoted to regional sales director for the Cedar Rapids market. He moved back to Durand in 2002 to become vice president of sales for the company’s North Region. Next came executive vice president of marketing and logistics before he was promoted in 2009 to his current positions: chief operating officer and executive vice president of the Tire Division.

Bauer also is a stockholder and a member of the Bauer Built board of directors.

Bauer Built is the 15th largest retreader in the United States, according to Modern Tire Dealer. It also is ranked 42nd on the MTD 100 list.
