Toyo prepares for the worst -- and 2013

Dec. 20, 2012

To Toyo Tire U.S.A. Corp. and Amy Coleman, marketing is a 24/7 job. How else do you explain the recent campaign promoting the... wait for it... apocalypse?

Doomsayers believe the world will end on Friday, Dec. 21, 2012. That's because, supposedly, the Mayan calendar ends on that day.

Coleman and Toyo are taking advantage of this top-of-mind awareness with a unique marketing campaign: If the world ends on that day, Toyo will give free tires to "everyone on earth."

Depending on the severity of the apocalypse, that is potentially a lot of tires.

To read about how Toyo plans to go to market, day of reckoning or not, check out the latest blog by Modern Tire Dealer Editor Bob Ulrich, "How to sell tires when the apocalypse is near." (Here's a hint: The new Toyo Open Country A/T II plays a big role in the plans.)

And let us know what you think -- preferably before Friday, Dec. 21 -- by leaving a comment!
