With the purchase of Main Tire Exchange Inc. and its Bandag retread plant, McCarthy Tire Service Co. Inc. increased its number of Bandag plants to seven.
It also increased its daily truck tire retreading capacity by 12%.
McCarthy Tire is eighth on Modern Tire Dealer's "Top 100 Retreaders in the U.S." list. It retreads 1,000 truck tires a day at the six plants it owned prior to the acquisition.
Main Tire Exchange was the 91st largest domestic retreader, according to the MTD list. Its one plant, located in Dansville, N.Y., produces 120 truck tires a day.
The seven plants use 7.6 million pounds of rubber annually.

McCarthy Tire Service, an independent commercial and retail dealer based in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., also is the eighth largest commercial tire dealer in the U.S.
