SEMA Show, Day Two: CMA doubles up

Oct. 31, 2012

The big tease by Double Coin Holdings Ltd. and the China Manufacturers Alliance LLC (CMA) is over.

The companies said they were going to introduce three big tires – two truck tires and one OTR tire – at the 2012 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show. They delivered.

One of the truck tires is a fuel-efficient, wide-based tire. The other is a premium drive tire designed for winter applications.

1. The new OptiGreen Series FD425 Super Wide is described by CMA as an “ultra-premium , fuel and weight efficient drive position tire.” It is the fifth addition to Double Coin’s list of SmartWay-verified tires, which includes the OptiGreen FR605, FD405, FT105 and the FT125.

“The result of the innovative tire technology of Double Coin’s new FD425 is optimal fuel efficiency and improved tire performance,” says Aaron Murphy, vice president of CMA.

“Fleets and owner operators continue to examine ways to reduce their vehicles’ carbon footprint by improving fuel efficiency. Double Coin continues to evolve its product line to meet the needs of the industry, the environment and the end user.”

2. The new FD425 features advanced tread compounds; a wider, low profile design (for low rolling resistance); and less weight savings for greater mileage. Durability, strength and even wear are key features of its design.

All of Double Coin’s OptiGreen products are designed from inception by use of Double Coin’s Finite Element Analysis (FEA) engineered science, and manufactured in ISO14001 certified, environmentally friendly facilities.

The FD425 is available in size 445/50R22.5 and has a maximum carrying capacity of 10,200 pounds (Load Index 161).

The new RSD3 ultra-premium drive position tire is optimized for severe winter driving conditions. The on/off highway drive tire is engineered with specific features to enhance ice and snow traction and performance.

It features an open shoulder design “for excellent traction and added cleaning ability,” according to the company. The zigzag siping increases traction and performance on all road surfaces and conditions.

“The new RSD3 offers significant value and performance in the toughest winter conditions by employing our latest in engineering designs and technologies,” adds Murphy.

The RSD3 is the seventh tire model in Double Coin’s TBR mixed service category. It is available in three sizes: 11R22.5, 295/80R22.5, and 315/80R22.5. More sizes will be added in 2013.

The third tire introduced by CMA at the SEMA Show’s Global Tire Expo-Powered by TIA section is the Double Coin REM-28S radial OTR tire for loaders, graders and mobile cranes in winter applications. Read about it by clicking here.
