Groupe Michelin will continue to run its Michelin Energy Endurance Challenge race series, which it unveiled in 2007.
"Based on the 2008 Le Mans 24 Hours and the five rounds of this year's Le Mans Series, the operation will see Michelin reward those teams which succeed in combining performance and energy consumption the most efficiently at these six races," say Michelin officials.
An "energy efficiency index" will be calculated for each car after each event.
The series "slots perfectly with our (company's) efforts regarding environmental matters."
