Feb. 23, 2008

Hankook Tire Co. Ltd. "remains in a strong position to invest further in overseas production facilities," according to company officials. Hankook's plant in Hungary built nearly one million tires during its first six months.

Hankook expects the Hungary facility to produce an additional four million tires in 2008.

The South Korea-based tiremaker also is ramping up production at its Guemsan, South Korea, plant. "Continuous investment at Guemsan will increase production capacity for profitable ultra-high performance tires... by the end of 2009, capacity will have increased by 50% or five million units annually."
