Solus sidewall issue leads to Kumho recall

Aug. 10, 2012

Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. is voluntarily recalling 1,238 Solus KH25 high-performance tires, size 225/45R17. Kumho says it has reported and filed the recall with the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration (NHTSA).

Of the 1,238 tires being recalled, only 122 tires were sold to consumers. Kumho is formally contacting each of them to inform them on how to get their tires replaced. The tires were produced between August 2011 through June 2012 (DOT Range: 3411 through 2512).

Cracking in the sidewalls of two tires during additional product testing was discovered. The company says that to ensure the tires meet the highest set of standards that Kumho expects, Kumho decided to voluntarily recall these tires. To date, there have been no reports of any warranty claim, accident, injury or death regarding the tire recalled related to its reported condition.
