Donald B. Rice Tire Co. was recently recognized by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for reaching its 40th year as a Goodyear dealer.
Donald B. Rice Tire Co. says it is dedicated to serving retail, commercial, and wholesale clients in Maryland, Virginia, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania.
Donald B. Rice, Sr. went into business in 1929, opening a Gulf Service Station on South Market Street in Frederick. As a one-man shop, he earned a reputation for honesty and good service. In order to accommodate the growing local market for large construction and commercial vehicle tires, Donald Rice expanded his business in 1956.
As the business continued to grow, he relocated in 1960, and finally to a N. East Street location in 1969. The 909 East Street facility currently serves as Donald B. Rice Tire Co.'s corporate office, with commercial facilities located in Frederick, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Cumberland, Winchester, Haymarket, Harrisonburg, Culpeper, and Hagerstown.
Donald Rice, Sr. passed away in 1987. Ken Rice, CEO of Donald B. Rice Tire Co. and the youngest of Donald Rice's three sons, has carried on in his father's tradition since 1975. The company is now run by a management team that includes Ken's son Ken II and son-in-law Chris Chase.
