Nitto sponsored Nick Nelson wins at Glen Helen

Nitto Tire sponsored driver Nick Nelson navigated his 4x4 to the top of the heap to win from behind at last week’s 4 Wheel Parts Ultra 4 Glen Helen Grand Prix.  Nelson was five minutes ahead of second place, completing 23 total laps in the 2.5 hour brutal endurance race.
 
The 4 Wheel Parts Ultra 4 Glen Helen Grand Prix is an annual short course motorcross event that pits drivers and teams against a variety of terrains and obstacles including hill climbs, off-road service roads and tracks with plenty of high speed runs.  The track is a 3.5 mile loop and this year’s competition included 34 total drivers. Nelson started the race in fifth place but immediately after the start, a fellow driver made contact to Nelson’s truck causing an unscheduled pit stop that had Nelson in last place after the first lap.  Nelson had to battle his way through all competitors – through dirt tracks and hill climbs – to reach first, hold on and ultimately win the race.  Nelson used Nitto 37x12.50R17 DOT TRAIL GRAPPLER tires for the race.
 
“We’ve been trying to make this happen for over a year now,” says Nelson. “My crew did an amazing job today, getting the car put together real fast after the early set-back. The Nitto tires worked awesome today, I beat them to death and they performed well the whole time. I’m proud to bring home the 1st place victory for my crew and all my sponsors.”
