Ranked 12th nationally, team aims to finish season in top five

The Permatex/Follow A Dream Race Team, sponsored by Permatex, an innovative leader in chemical technology for automotive maintenance and repair, has just completed the first half of the 2012 NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, and remains keenly focused on reaching its goal of a top five finish. Competing in Region 1 of the Top Alcohol Funny Car NHRA Series the team has enjoyed a very successful start. Jay Blake and company are very optimistic for the balance of the season and look forward to revisiting familiar race venues where the team has had strong showings in previous years.

The 2012 Follow A Dream Team has proven itself a challenging competitor in this year’s NHRA series with its Permatex/Follow A Dream 2008 Chevrolet Impala SS Top Alcohol Funny Car. The team opened the season with consistently good qualifying runs, leading up to a sweep in Virginia to start off the Region 1 Series. The team currently sits at 4th place in the region and is ranked 12th overall in the NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car national standings out of 68 teams.

Permatex/Follow A Dream Team will compete in the team’s homecoming race at New England Raceway in New Hampshire on July 20-21. After that, the team has four more races before the end of the season and hopes to land a spot in the nation’s top five.
Jay Blake, Follow A Dream Race Team Crew Chief, spoke on this season’s progress, “Drag racing is a humbling sport – like a rollercoaster. One day you’re on the podium, the next you’re struggling for a shot at the finals. You have to deal with the ups and the downs – and while we’re not satisfied with what we’ve done so far, the team has done a great job of keeping us competitive. Our driver, Todd Veney and tuner, Tom Howell are at the top of their game, so we look forward to racing in many more finals and grabbing some podium finishes as the season continues.”
