MTD wins three IAMA silver medals

July 17, 2012

With the Olympics just around the corner, it seems fitting that Modern Tire Dealer received three medals for editorial excellence from the 21st International Automotive Media Awards (IAMA).

Entered in the Magazine Writing division, MTD took home the following Foundation Award medallions:

* Silver, Editorial category, "No respect for tire dealers," Bob Ulrich.

* Silver, Personality Profile category, "Everybody say, 'WOW!'," Bob Ulrich.

* Silver, Single Issue (circulation 20,000-100,000) category, “Performance Handbook," Bob Ulrich, Lori Mavrigian and Bob Bissler (see photo).

The "Everybody say, 'WOW!" story profiled MTD's 2011 Tire Dealer of the Year, Nick Mitsos of Mountain View Tire & Service Inc. in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.

The IAMA's "Best of 2011" winner for all media was Charles Camp, writing for "Vintage Motorsport." His story, "Stop the Presses," was entered in the Magazine division's Biography category.

Pete Lyons, longtime automotive industry photographer and journalist, received the 2011 IAMA for Lifetime Achievement.

The purpose of the International Automotive Media Awards is to "recognize and encourage excellence in all forms of automotive media."

The IAMA is part of the International Automotive Media Competition (IAMC). Both are administered, produced and owned by the International Society for VEHICLE Preservation.
