On July 8th, 2012, the California Tire Dealers Association (CTDA) held its first soccer tournament at Griffith Park in Los Angeles, Calif.
The seven teams participating were American Tire Distributors Inc., Bob Lee's Tire (Lee's Tire), Fairmount Tire and Rubber Inc., King's Tire & Wheel, Tom's Tire Performance Center and two teams sent by Turbo Wholesale Tires Inc. -- one of which won the tournment (see photo).
Pirelli Tire North America Inc. sponsored the jerseys; Continental Tire the Americas LLC and 1-800EveryRim-OEM Wheels sponsored the soccer balls and field.
The organizing committee was made up of the following people:
* Bill Fuqua, Turbo Wholesale Tires;
* Chris Barry, Independent Tire Dealers Group LLC;
* Jay Goldberg , Jewell Tire Co.;
* Paul Arellano, Lakin Tire West; and
* Bryan Rubinich, Fairmount Tire.
"Our committee did a great job of switching this up from our traditional basketball tournament to a well-organized and fun day of some pretty competitive soccer!" said CTDA President Billy Eordekian.
