Big O Tires celebrates 50 years

May 30, 2012

Big O Tires LLC recently celebrated its 50th anniversary at its annual convention in Anaheim, Calif.

The three-day convention included educational sessions for Big O franchisees and presentations from company executives which “laid the foundation for growing the franchise in 2012 and beyond,” the company noted. The message presented “focused on the strong foundation Big O has built during the first 50 years and how that will be leveraged to support each franchisee’s future growth and increased profitability.”

Nearly 700 franchisees, managers, vendors and corporate participants attended the convention.

“The focus of our convention and message to our franchisees highlights the history of Big O Tires and how it has evolved over the past 50 years to meet the needs of consumers,” said Kevin Kormondy, executive vice president and COO

The chain’s top performers were recognized at the “Best of the Best” awards banquet. “Our franchisees are the lifeblood of this great organization,” said Kormondy. “It is their dedication to the Big O system that makes this company the success it is today. It is an honor to showcase their commitment and success.”

Each year, franchisees are recognized for their contribution to the community as well as to the company. One such recognition is the Point of Light award. This award is presented to an individual who embodies the spirit of Big O Tires with commitment, values and dedication.

This year that award went to Kevin Brooks “for building a performance-driven culture grounded in accountability and loyalty. As owner of eight Big O Tires stores on Colorado’s western slope, Brooks has built some of the best performing stores in the system,” Kormondy noted.

“Kevin Brooks is a great franchisee. He embodies the spirit of Big O Tires and its programs. We have built a supportive foundation to help our franchisees achieve success, as Kevin has, and it is our goal to continue this pattern while strategically offering franchise opportunities throughout the Midwest and western U.S.”
