Maxxis adds the Baltimore Orioles to its roster

May 4, 2012

Maxxis International-USA has signed a sponsorship deal with the Baltimore Orioles Major League Baseball team for the 2012 season.

The company will have signage behind home plate at every home game promoting the Maxxis brand.

With international headquarters located in Taiwan, Maxxis also has a link to the team through starting pitcher Wei-Yin Chen, a native of the country. The Orioles signed Chen, a left-hander, to a three-year contract in January 2012. He is the first Taiwanese-born player in the history of the Orioles, and previously played for the Chunichi Dragons in Japan.

The Orioles join the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals baseball teams, plus the National Basketball Association's New York Knicks on Maxxis’ roster of sponsored professional sports teams in the United States.

The benefits of team sponsorships are twofold, according to Scott Barker, marketing manager of the company's Automotive Tire Division.: “international recognition of our signage and increased brand awareness.”
