Will drivers be Ecsta-tic? Kumho thinks so

April 25, 2012

The 2012 Classic Motorsports Mitty gets underway in Georgia this Friday through Sunday (April 27-29) at Road Atlanta -- with Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc.'s help.

In addition to a long weekend of classic auto racing action both on and off the track, Kumho is inviting drivers at the event to take the Kumho Challenge. This hands-on, behind-the-wheel feature allows licensed drivers to sit in the driver’s seat of a Mazda MX-5 and run through a 35-second course.

The Mazdas will be outfitted with three different models of Kumho tires: the Ecsta LE Sport, the Ecsta XS and the Ecsta V710.

Participants must have a valid driver’s license and know how to drive a manual transmission vehicle. If one does not know how to drive a manual transmission car, he or she may opt to sit in the passenger seat while one of the vehicle specialists drives.

There is a gate fee to watch the races going on this weekend at Road Atlanta, though once inside, participating in the Kumho Challenge is free. Anyone who purchases four tires of select Kumho models will also receive a $50 rebate.

WHERE: Road Atlanta, 5300 Winder Highway, Braselton, GA 30517 (far back inside of the track adjacent to the Skid Pad/Autocross Section).

WHEN: Friday and Saturday, April 27-28, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Kumho also helped sponsor the 2011 event.
