Bus tire casing defect leads to Michelin recall

April 23, 2012

Michelin North America Inc. is voluntarily recalling 77,775 Michelin XZU2, XZU3 and XM505 bus tires.

The recall, expected to begin April 30, 2012, is due to casings that may experience a loss of integrity and rapid air loss.

The Michelin XZU2, XZU3 and XM505 tires involved in the recall were produced between October 2005 and September 2011 at Michelin’s plant in Spartanburg, S.C.

Michelin has a strong OTR presence in South Carolina. The company recently announced it will build a new OTR plant in Anderson, S.C., as well as expand its existing OTR plant in Lexington.
