Team Falken is ready for Formula Drift season opener in Long Beach

April 6, 2012

Falken Tire, a leading high performance choice for driving enthusiasts, and the winner of back-to-back Formula Drift Championships, returns to the streets of Long Beach for the opening round of the 2012 Formula D season with a four-member team consisting of defending champion Daijiro (“Dai”) Yoshihara, 2010 Formula D champion Vaughn Gittin, Jr., 2011 series runner-up Justin Pawlak and team veteran Darren McNamara.

Additionally, Falken has cranked up its involvement in Formula D with an aggressive contingency program for private entrants, to be designated the Falken Tire Cup, giving privateer drivers and teams an opportunity to earn significant cash awards.

“Formula Drift continues to provide one of the most competitive platforms in motorsports relative to showcasing the attributes of our products, as well as bridging the strong appeal it has from both an entrant and spectator standpoint,” stated Nick Fousekis, Falken Director of Motorsports and Consumer Events.

“This is the 7th year Formula Drift has been a part of the Long Beach double weekend,” said Jonathan Bradford, “and with a repaved track, we can expect higher grip and speeds on the track.  It should be a great event and we hope to have another top podium finish.”

Round 1 of the 2012 Formula Drift Championship will take place April 6-7 and have competitors again running on the famed Long Beach Grand Prix course. The schedule for this year’s racing events can be found at:  http://formulad.com/schedule/pro-championship/
