Will Power wins at Barber Motorsports Park

April 2, 2012

Race winner Will Power, No.12 Verizon Team Penske Dallara/Chevy/Firestone said after the race, "Tim Cindric put me in such a good position. I can't believe we won from ninth - I thought that was impossible at this place. Dixon was so quick, and it was hard to hold him off.  I'm very happy - I just can't believe it. I think that Firestone did a great job to build a tire that went off so there could be good racing. That's how I won today, because we played the strategy with the tires. I hope they do a lot more of that."

Tim Cindric, President of Penske Racing was quoted as saying,  "Firestone brought the perfect tires to put on a good show today."

From Al Speyer, Executive Director, Firestone Racing:

"Congratulations to Team Penske - they really know the quick way around Barber Motorsports Park! Firestone Racing is pleased with the performance of the tires this weekend.  While drivers had tested several different specifications here at Barber, they never received the real race tire until this weekend. Everyone had a little bit of learning to do in that regard, particularly with track time limited by inclement weather on Friday and Saturday. The primary tires were more durable, and the alternates were faster for almost everyone. That's what INDYCAR and the drivers asked us for. We're chasing the elusive perfect gap between the primary and alternate tires, and I think we were as close to hitting it just right this weekend as we've ever been."
