March 30, 2012

Discount Tire, America’s largest tire and wheel retailer, announces the expansion of its motorsports program as it partners with Monster Energy AMA Supercross rider Chad Reed and his TwoTwo Motorsports team beginning with the 2012 racing season.

Reed, born in Kurri Kurri, Australia, is a repeat Supercross and Motocross champion with multiple wins in the U.S., Europe and Australia. He won the U.S. AMA Supercross Series Championship in 2004 and 2008. In 2009, Reed won the AMA 450 National Outdoor Motocross Championship and that same year he captured the Australian Supercross Series Championship for the fourth time. He has ascended the international ranks of the sport which led to the launch of his own team TwoTwo Motorsports in 2011.

Discount Tire stated: “Chad has proven to be one of the most consistent competition racers of the last decade. With an international following he is a true ambassador of the sport and will help debut Discount Tire’s brand to thousands of new fans who follow Supercross.”

Earlier this year, Discount Tire also added its first AMA Supercross Series sponsorship by becoming the exclusive retailer of passenger/truck wheels and tires for the 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship.

Monster Energy Supercross is a 16-round series in the U.S. and considered the crown jewel of off-road motorcycling. Races are run on man-made tracks held mostly in major stadium venues. Races feature crowd pleasing jumps and obstacles that make timing and precision just as important as speed. In the U.S., the motorsport is topped only by NASCAR in fan interest.

“We are creating more ways for racing fans to engage with Discount Tire. Our company, championship drivers and teams are well known in NASCAR and Formula D racing. Adding Monster Energy Supercross along with Chad Reed will help us continue to expand the reach of our brand,” said Discount Tire.
