Nelson K. Richards, a longtime friend to the tire industry, died March 5, 2012. He was 60.

Richards, a resident of Las Vegas, Nev., was national OTR tire sales manager for Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC) at the time of his death.

"He fought a short, valiant fight against cancer, but ultimately succumbed to complications stemming from the disease," says Gary Nash, Yokohama's vice president of OTR sales.

Richards joined Yokohama's OTR Division in 1998. According to Nash, he was "instrumental in making  Yokohama Tire Corp. a major player in the industry." He also was a fixture at the annual Tire Industry Association Off-The-Road Tire Conference.

"Nelson leaves behind a loving wife, one son and two grandchildren who all adored him," says Nash. "He also leaves behind an extended family and friends here at Yokohama who will all miss him very dearly."

Memorial services for Richards will begin Sunday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at Palm Mortuary, 6701 N. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89131, tel. (702) 464-8460.
