Facts Issue 2008: Bridgestone takes over in the U.S. and Canada

For the first time, Bridgestone Firestone North American Tire LLC surpassed Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in tire sales.

In Modern Tire Dealer's 2008 Facts Issue, Bridgestone finished 2007 with $8.5 billion in tire sales in the United States and Canada. Goodyear finished second with $8.3 billion in sales. Michelin North America Inc. was third with $7.2 billion.

Rounding out the top 10 are Cooper Tire & Rubber Co. ($2.1 billion), Continental Tire North America Inc., Hankook Tire America Corp., Yokohama Tire Corp., Toyo Tire Holdings of Americas, Kumho Tire U.S.A. Inc. and Pirelli Tire North America Inc.
