Motul is aiming for gold at the Rolex 24 at Daytona

Jan. 27, 2012

Motul, manufacturer of world class lubricants, will be a part of two exciting endurance teams as technical partner during the Rolex 24 at Daytona.  The Motul brand will be on board APR Motorsport’s new Audi R8 LMS, and Turner Motorsport’s BMW M3’s, both teams competing in the highly-competitive GT class.

Celebrating its 50th anniversary, this legendary endurance road race runs this weekend, January 28 and 29 in Daytona, Florida.  The Rolex 24 subjects both man and machine to extremes in this wheel-to-wheel battle to the finish.  A race where cars once had to be finessed in order to survive; modern components, such as Motul lubricants, help teams to push hard throughout the entire 24 hours of racing.

The 2012 Rolex 24 marks the debut of the Audi R8 LMS in the GT class of Grand Am.  Campaigned by APR Motorsport of Opelika, Alabama, the Audi race car will be protected by Motul lubricants throughout the 24-hour event.  Motul has been a technical partner of APR Motorsport since 2008 and is confident its program will prove successful in this endurance classic.  Joining APR Motorsport for the Rolex 24 is five-time winner of the 24 Hour of Le Mans as an Audi Sport driver, Emanuele Pirro.

Motul proudly continues its support of leading North American BMW Tuner, Turner Motorsport of Amesbury, Massachusetts.  The Turner Motorsport team is led by Will Turner, company founder and innovator, and will compete with two BMW M3s in the GT class.  World class drivers who will take turns behind the wheel include – BMW Motorsport factory drivers, Jörg and Dirk Muller (no relation), Dirk Werner and BMW North America’s ultra-successful Bill Auberlen and Boris Said.  Turner Motorsport has won multiple national championships, including the 2011 GS Class Championship in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.  The team returns to defend its title with two BMW M3s in that competitive class of road racing.

“Motul is proud to be the technical partner for two such well-known teams, each representing the interests of the prestigious Audi and BMW brands in this 50th running of the Daytona 24,” said Hervé Amelot, Motul’s Managing Director.  “This is great proof in the confidence that competitors have in our products.  Motul’s technical expertise is the ideal fit for this 24-hour endurance race.”
